Volkswagen Golf 2009 2.0 TDI new nct 5/27

Worth knowing

• A lot of kilometres: 315,430 km, about 1.2 times what a 17-year-old car usually has. Ask for the service history, and when the timing belt and clutch were last done.
• 30,000 km more than similar cars for sale, which have about 285,000 km.
• An older car: 17 years old. Cars over ten years need an NCT every year, and repairs and parts weigh more in what it costs to keep.

Why we say so

86 Volkswagen Golfs from 2008 to 2010, diesel, manual are for sale now. Most ask €2,200 to €3,800, with about 285,000 km on the clock. This one is cheaper than 48 of the 86. The market price above also allows for its exact year and mileage.
