VW Passat B6 *1150* this week

Worth knowing

• A lot of kilometres: 378,000 km, about 1.4 times what a 18-year-old car usually has. Ask for the service history, and when the timing belt and clutch were last done.
• 77,000 km more than similar cars for sale, which have about 301,000 km.
• An older car: 18 years old. Cars over ten years need an NCT every year, and repairs and parts weigh more in what it costs to keep.

Why we say so

39 Volkswagen Passats from 2007 to 2009, diesel, manual are for sale now. Most ask €1,290 to €2,600, with about 301,000 km on the clock. This one is cheaper than 31 of the 39, near the bottom of the range. The market price above also allows for its exact year and mileage.
