Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDi SE 140bhp

Worth knowing

• A lot of kilometres: 326,687 km, about 1.2 times what a 18-year-old car usually has. Ask for the service history, and when the timing belt and clutch were last done.
• 25,000 km more than similar cars for sale, which have about 301,000 km.
• An older car: 18 years old. Cars over ten years need an NCT every year, and repairs and parts weigh more in what it costs to keep.
• The NCT ran out in February 2020. Ask whether it has been tested since.

Why we say so

42 Volkswagen Passats from 2007 to 2009, diesel, manual are for sale now. Most ask €1,240 to €2,560, with about 301,000 km on the clock. This one is cheaper than 14 of the 42. The market price above also allows for its exact year and mileage.
