Volkswagen Golf 2008

Worth knowing

• A lot of kilometres: 581,922 km, about 2.2 times what a 18-year-old car usually has. Ask for the service history, and when the timing belt and clutch were last done.
• 286,000 km more than similar cars for sale, which have about 296,000 km.
• An older car: 18 years old. Cars over ten years need an NCT every year, and repairs and parts weigh more in what it costs to keep.
• The NCT runs out in January 2027: budget for the test and any repairs it asks for.

Why we say so

56 Volkswagen Golfs from 2007 to 2009, diesel are for sale now. Most ask €1,540 to €3,000, with about 296,000 km on the clock. This one is cheaper than 45 of the 56, near the bottom of the range. The market price above also allows for its exact year and mileage.
